Parrotlets are the small birds which are at their young stages of life. Their bodies are small with an average length of about six inches. The weight of an average bodied parrotlet is around 28 grams. Parrots are kept as pet birds by many people. Humans have seen the importance of rearing parrotlets in their homes. Parrotlets are very beautiful pet birds to have in your compound. The colors of a parrot are different depending on the species. The difference in color is brought about by the difference in the species. Just like in all the other birds some species are expensive to rear and rare to find. The Pacific parrot is the most available species of the parrotlets. Other colors include the Green rump, the yellow face and the blue wing. Yellow faced parrotlets are very hard to find and where they are found they are very much expensive to buy.

Thet have an amazing appetite that best suits them for their character. Since parrots are nutcrackers they love nuts which helps them exercise their beaks and make them strong. They crack the nuts and feed what’s on the inside. Natural supplements are also used as a way of feeding the parrotlets for proper growth. Parrotlets require a lot of energy as compared to fully grown parrots which can feed on nuts and some other readily available food material for survival. High sugar content foods are not suitable for parrotlets. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.

Fully grown parrots will require about ten minutes attention from their owners mostly for training. Make sure you put enough play materials in the cages of the parrotlets for them to use them when they want to play. parrots require less company from other birds or other pets. The only company the easily get to enjoy is that of their owners and company from other parrots. They, therefore, need to be housed separately

Although they are friendly birds they can cause harm to anything that causes disturbance to them. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur.
